Early in the year T.A. 2967, our fellowship of brave adventurers embarked in the heart of winter, venturing to the Trollshaws, enduring bitter winds and treacherous terrain to rescue a waylaid courier. The courier, beset by orcs and hill trolls, carried tidings that revealed growing unrest in Middle-earth.

Later in the year as spring unfurled, Círdan the Shipwright of the Grey Havens summoned the heroes, bidding them investigate troubling reports from the marshes of Swanfleet, east of Tharbad. Navigating the murky waters in skiffs, the fellowship encountered a fearsome marsh drake, a serpent-like creature of dreadful power. The battle was hard-fought, and though the company nearly fell, one hero’s valor turned the tide.

In the marshes of Swanfleet, they found villages laid waste, their inhabitants scattered as refugees. The trail led to a dark discovery: a tower rising ominously from the mire, the work of Meher Shalal Hashbaz, a Black Númenórean of malice and ambition. Wielding a cursed sword of the First Age, he commanded orcs and sought dominion over the region.

The fellowship mounted a daring assault. Wilric, the cunning burglar, scaled the tower to confront Meher Shalal Hashbaz as he emerged to ambush the party. Meanwhile, the brave hobbit Fennel struck from beneath through the sewers, sowing chaos among the orcs. Sylvaris, the Wood Elf, had prepared hallowed gel to enhance her arrows, a boon that proved invaluable in their fight. Together, the companions overcame their foes, slaying the Black Númenórean and ending his dark designs.

Within the tower, they uncovered treasured weapons of bygone ages.

Grateful villagers afterwards presented Ulmo’s Frosthorn, a wondrous artifact, to the courageous hobbit Fennel. This horn, with its strange enchantment, could chill any drink.

As the heroes returned from Swanfleet, Aranel took the black rune-covered sword of Meher Shalal Hashbaz and began to study it, looking for clues to the darkness spreading across Middle-earth.
