Other Events of the Third Age
- T.A. 1 – Sauron is defeated in battle by the Last Alliance of Elves and Men, led by Gil-galad and Elendil.
- T.A. 861 – The Kingdom of Arnor is divided into Arthedain, Cardolan, and Rhudaur after the death of King Eärendur.
- T.A. 1050 – The Shadow falls on Greenwood, later called Mirkwood. The Witch-king establishes the realm of Angmar in the north.
- T.A. 1409 – The forces of Angmar complete their control of Rhudaur and overrun Cardolan; Weathertop and Amon Sûl are destroyed.
- T.A. 1974 – Angmar destroys Arthedain, capturing Fornost; King Arvedui flees and later drowns in the Icebay of Forochel.
- T.A. 1975 – The Battle of Fornost: Gondor and the Elves defeat Angmar; the Witch-king flees to Mordor.
